Council defers OPP costing study

Shortfalls in the Espanola police building are forcing town council to hold off on an OPP costing study.  Council will now decide on the study at the December 13th meeting after considering some scenarios.  Problems with the jail cells and handicap accessibility have ruled out the Espanola police building as is as an OPP detachment.  The town can move its officers into the OPP building on Highway 17 but it would have to pay for the changes to the building.  Council can also build its own OPP building in town, lease it to the OPP who would then upgrade it to their standards with OPP money.
