It’s a $1 million fine for Vale in Sudbury after a rock-crushing machine killed one miner and injured another. The incident took place in Copper Cliff in April, 2014. The workers were trying to clear a jam in the crusher when a piece of the broken machinery flew toward them hitting both workers. Vale pleaded guilty to several charges under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. A supervisor on duty the day of the fatal accident was fined $3,000.
